WELCOME

Secluded as it might appear, the cozy-looking household awaits... You only need to cross its front gates.

INFORMATION

Old as time itself, and hidden somewhere in Old Sharlayan, away from the main city and its adjacent complexes... Deep inside a forest and atop of a rocky hill... The house was built around an ancient shrine dedicated to Thaliak, the Scholar. In the beginning, only a handful of gleaners and scholars knew of its existence. The place was subsequently used as an abode for those who sought a place for respite and privacy.

The site is known as "The Meteora", as its inhabitants once called it... "Elevated Temple" in the tongue of the Ancients and historical proto-alphabet writings.Abandoned by the few inhabitants it once had, with its many rooms haunted by arcane magic and hazards unknown... A mysterious new owner has acquired the land, using the help of many oddjobs enthusiasts, scholars and adventurers to revive the Meteora, and turn it into a sanctuary for those who need it.

READ THESE RULES

ROLEPLAYING SETTING

- The venue is located, as the information on this site says, somewhere in Old Sharlayan's outskirts.- The Meteora and its staff's level of knowledge on MSQ events will be up-to-date with the current patch.- We accept characters that bend lore within reason, but never going against the game's inconsistent, yet basic lore foundations. Hybrid races or species unheard of throughout MSQ, will be considered as foreign magicks that alter your character's appearance by the staff, and nothing more.- However: If your character's way above the race's maximum heights, then some strange arcane magics will either have your character resized or downright unable to enter the premises if you refuse this simple adjustment to share with other players. Simple as.

IC/OOC

- Mechanical contraptions, mascots, familiars or summonings of any kind (anything considered a Minion in-game) must be registered at the reception, as they're not permitted inside the premises while public RP nights are in progress.- Character nudity or risque clothing under the venue's Syncshell is strictly forbidden. We do not condemn your character's wardrobe choices, but we do ask for a proper dresscode in a SFW RP establishment.- Weapons must be kept in custody, at the front desk, left of the Scholar's Shrine.- Harassment of regular patrons is strictly forbidden. The staff will be notified of the offender's character identity, and ban them permanently from the premises if such a situation arises while The Meteora is open. Our venue is a safe place for our loyal patrons, and we will keep it that way. This applies for OOC stalking, and IC stalking without manifest consent from both parts on the matter.- If an IC fight ensues inside the premises, the Staff will make three calls for the fight to be either stopped, or taken outside. Failing to comply will result in a 500.000 gil fine against each one involved. Failing to pay the fine will result in banishment.- Players who stream content must ask the staff for permission to record anyone inside and/or anything happening inside The Meteora. Please respect the people who make this place come alive and their privacy.

IC/OOC disruptive behavior, or conduct that goes against any of the rules listed above and/or other's roleplaying experience, will be met with a ban from the premises.
The staff will ask once to cease/desist before removing the offender.
Serial offenders will be put under a permanent ban from The Meteora.

STAFF

The Unknown Archon

The Meteora's owner.
Founder of the Aionios Foundation.
Little is known about the individual that owns the historical site turned home for many visitors throughout the years. This Archon, of which no one knows their field of expertise, name or face... Lacks both the gil and the people to keep the place afloat, offering a strange business card to those who seek to help. This person's connections and knowledge offered as reward for said help, however... Make for an interesting contradiction on itself.

PERCEVAINT SURGATE

Gleaner. Chronicler. Sorcerer.Percevaint serves as the Meteora's curator and House Surgate's patronage liaison, helping the rest of the staff to maintain the sanctuary.Percevaint's family is one of the main benefactors of the Aionios Foundation. Through their resources and Percevaint's restoration efforts, The Meteora remains open to this day. Always lending a hand to those who need it, and never shying away from receiving help himself with one or two tasks...
He's always around.
Be it by cooking, building or fixing things... Good old Percy looks after the house, the staff, and its patrons like family.

MARUNA FOSTER

Scholar. Healer. Allagan archaeologist.Maruna is the Meteora's cook serving in the restobar section, and a first-aid healer for those in need.A Sharlayan citizen estranged from the Motherland for a long while, born in the now abandoned Eorzean colony at the Dravanian Hinterlands. Served in the Maelstrom for many years, making her worthy of a Scholar soul crystal, bearing it to this day whenever succor and healing is needed.Being a former business owner in the produce industry somewhere in the Lavender Beds, she joined the Meteora looking for new horizons and purpose in her life. To help others in their quest for knowledge through service and understanding, and to help herself in a neverending quest for fulfillment. After all, the quest for knowledge requires good nutrition... And someone experienced in it can provide it quite well.

VRIN INNLID

Dancer. Semi-retired, prior multi-business owner. Part-time consultant.Vrin is the Meteora's bartender, also working occassionally as a retainer... And receptionist.
She's got gil to her name, and business is her game!
Born and raised in a small village in Vanaspati, Vrin ended up travelling to Gridania at a young age and spent the next several years doing side jobs and being a postwoman to earn enough gil to go back home again. It was only a matter of time until she set her sights higher, and was determined to see if the wider world could earn her even more and meet new people who she could make deals with.Retirement never suits a workaholic, so she went back into her business ways as soon as she had a chance, but never leaving the peaceful days of gardening, cooking, and fishing behind. Despite the fact she's a homebody, socializing is the thing she does best.Don't let her appearance fool you — the tiny spunky woman is actually a Viera; she uses an incredibly expensive glamour that could fund an entire restaurant's wages for a year to cover it up. You probably shouldn't ask her why she would go to such lengths to do so. But what you can ask her is whether she thinks vegetables exist or not. She has opinions... And is always willing to share them if you pull up a chair with her and strike up a conversation.

THE LOPORRITS

Also known as the "Lunar Staff."They help keeping the Meteora alive whenever the staff is not around.Always speaking with enthusiasm and clear honesty, these adorable-looking workers that remained in Old Sharlayan, wish to learn more about mankind, or help them through radio broadcasts from the Moon. Some of them ran into The Meteora and never left.In a broad sense, there are two types of Loporrits: those who fixate obsessively upon a single task, and those who remain relentlessly optimistic yet accomplish nothing. Such personalities might seem predisposed to conflict, but upon deeper consideration, one will find that they compliment each other perfectly. A few were granted perpetual high spirits, while others were gifted with produtive zeal.A match made in heaven to help our patrons.
